PTO Mission

The mission of the Parent Teacher Organization of ACST is to build a strong sense of community among ACST’s students, faculty, staff, and families.  Our goal is to promote and celebrate our cultural diversity in a forum that brings everybody together.

The PTO is made up of all the faculty, staff, and families of our school. Every parent and teacher can participate by lending some of their experience, time, and energy to help achieve the educational goals of our community and to enrich the schooling experience through social events, fundraisers, and other activities. The PTO is run by a committee of parents and teachers who will periodically seek other volunteers to help with projects throughout the school year.

The PTO supports the ACST community in several complementary ways:

  • Providing parent volunteers to assist with classroom or grade-level student activities.
  • Providing new family support through our hospitality program.  Regional and Mother Tongue representatives are available to answer your questions about where you live or assist in your native language. Informational coffees and informal gatherings are arranged throughout the school year.
  • Coordinating social events for students, parents, faculty, and staff, such as picnics, excursion trips, evening dances, holiday celebrations, and lectures. Some of our favorites are the PTO's Halloween celebration, International Day, Spring Fair, and Santa Claus' visit. Let’s have fun!
  • Offering direct and productive lines of communication among parents, teachers, the school administration, and the school board through open forum meetings, participation in board committee meetings, monthly PTO meetings, and a regular PTO newsletter, The PTO Report (scroll down for back issues).
