The high school program of studies allows students to meet the requirements for obtaining both a standard American High School diploma, following the Carnegie system of credits used in the United States, as well as an International Baccalaureate Diploma awarded by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).
A minimum of twenty-four (24) credits is required for a Standard ACST Diploma:
Graduation Requirements
The basic requirements for graduation are the completion of grades 9 through 12 with the accumulation of 24 units of credit. These credits should consist of: 4 credits of English and Social Studies: 3 credits of Mathematics and Science; 2 credits of Foreign Language; 2 credits of Physical Education; 1 course of Art, Music, Health and Technology. Other courses must be selected to obtain additional credits for the requirement total of 24. Most competitive colleges and universities require four years of English, mathematics, science, social studies and foreign languages. (See the ACST Program of Studies Handbook for more details about the high school program and courses) The academic program is supported by facilities that include a biology lab, a chemistry/physics lab, two fully Internet-capable computer labs, a mobile laptop lab, and a Library/Media Center housing approximately 15,000 volumes and research stations. The high school physical education program emphasizes sports units. The major sports offered are basketball, track and field, volleyball, and soccer.
