Students in High School must take one semester of technology. In addition, we offer IB Design Tech, Media Arts, and Advanced Technology courses.
9th Grade Tech
This is a semester long course. Networked electronic data systems are used for portfolio presentation. Advanced techniques in Photoshop, Indesign, video and animation are presented. Students begin programming and modeling.
IB Design Tech
This course incorporates knowledge, skills, and design principles in problem solving contexts while maximizing local and readily available resources. The intent of the course is to learn how to adapt to new experiences and approach problems with the appropriate skills and the relevant techniques to identify the important elements and to develop the optimal solutions. The students use the design cycle process in the practical investigative work as well as in the theory.
Media Arts
In this year-long course, students will learn graphic and design principles and apply them to real-life projects. Projects may include video service announcements, Web design, digital portfolios, and publicity documents. As a culminating project, students will create the Yearbook. Prerequisite: 9th Grade Technology.
Advanced Technology
This is a semester long course. The focus is on advancing student knowledge of specific technologies. Robotics, Programming and basic design principles are discussed and reviewed. Students generate products for specific purposes to be used in the school and at home.
