Grade 6
In Grade Six German, students continue to develop academic writing and speaking skills. The students practice how to manage communicative situations appropriately. They learn how to use the writing process and strategies for writing. Central writing forms are components of the program. Students acquire methods for text comprehension. A textbook in combination with a workbook form the basis of the course. Other resources like magazines, newspapers or internet are integrated in the program. Students read more fictional texts than non-fictional.  
The course is aligned with the contents and objectives from the German guidelines: Curriculare Vorgaben fuer das Gymnasium, Schuljahrgaenge 5-6, Deutsch.

Grade 7
In Grade Seven German, students read fictional and non-fictional texts from different centuries, and develop academic writing and speaking skills. They practice how to summarize a text, which is not too complex and how to deal with a text creatively. The students practice how to express the meaning of a text they are reading. They learn how to express feelings, opinions, and give reasons. Grammar and spelling are integrated in the different units. Literary works, a textbook in combination with a workbook form the basis of the course.  Other resources like magazines, newspapers or internet are integrated in the program.

Grade 8
In Grade Eight German, students read works of literature from the 19th and 20th century, and continue to develop academic writing and speaking skills. Therefore they practice summarizing a text and how to deal with a text on a creative basic. They learn about different effects of texts (informative, manipulative) and how to distinguish different levels of language (Sprachebenen). Grammar and spelling are integrated in the different units. Literary works and a textbook in combination with a workbook form the basis of this course. Other resources like magazines, newspapers or internet are integrated in the program.
