The ACST Board of Governors consists of nine members, seven of whom are normally parents or legal guardians of ACST students and are elected by the ACST Association. Five of the Board members must be citizens of the United States of America. There are also two non-voting members of the Board of Governors, a teacher’s representative and a representative appointed by the American Ambassador to Tunisia.
The primary roles and responsibilities of the Board are:
- To ensure the long-term viability of the school through proper fiscal management, financial and legal oversight as well as effective strategic planning;
- To hire, evaluate and work in partnership with the ACST Director, who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the school, to ensure that ACST provides the best education to its students and the highest quality employment possible to its faculty and staff;
- To develop and maintain optimal policies and facilities to provide a safe and productive environment for the ACST community;
- To ensure that ACST’s vision and mission are fulfilled and that our students enjoy continuous academic achievement and opportunities.
The Board is committed to functioning effectively as a collaborative body that works with the larger ACST community to maintain ACST’s position as the American curriculum school of choice in Tunisia.
Exceptional boards govern in partnership with the head, recognizing that the effectiveness and success of the board, the head, and the school are interdependent.
