Online application

Elementary grade placements are made according to the child’s age as of September 1 of the current academic year. We feel strongly that children are best placed with their age mates and, therefore, we believe in abiding by our cut-off dates. But we also consider previous school transcripts, academic ability, social development, and placement tests where necessary to determine grade placement. The following guide for 2024-2025 school year may be helpful in understanding grade placement at ACST.

Upon receipt of the complete application, school records, and payment of application fee, candidates might be scheduled for on-site admissions tests in reading, language, and math. These tests will then be evaluated for admission. 

Students coming from accredited American schools or comparable international schools may be admitted provisionally, based on previous school performance, recommendation forms, and the ACST student questionnaire. 

Further testing may be required for EAL and/or Academic Support.

All enrollment and placement decisions are made by the school administration and will be shared with parents by the Admissions Officer

Waitlist 

• As a grade reaches it optimal capacity, a waiting list will be established and the school's waitlist procedure will go into effect.

Before the student(s) can begin attending school, parents must sign an acceptance letter, a Parent Partnership Agreement (English, French, Arabic version), and other financial documents. Original documents are to be returned to the Admissions Office. Parents will then receive an invoice from the Finance Office.

2. Elementary School: Most supplies to be used in the elementary school are provided by ACST. Students are responsible for maintaining in good order any school resources they use.

Technology is integral to teaching and learning at ACST. We have designed a program following the ISTE standards that is developmentally and age appropriate. In elementary school, students use iPads (K-3) and Chromebooks (4,5) as tools for learning. We have a school-owned 1:1 iPad/Chromebook program beginning in kindergarten, although screen time is limited in the early years. ACST uses SeeSaw to communicate with parents about each child's learning.

At ACST we believe that technology can be a powerful learning tool. Technology expands the opportunities for learning beyond the walls of the school. Teacher and student use of Google Classroom and the "Google Workspace for Education" improves opportunities for collaboration, feedback and research, and innovation.

In the secondary school, we have a 1:1 laptop program. For the 2024-25 school year, all students in Grades 6-12 are required to bring their own laptop to school. The laptop will be checked, and user agreements must be signed. ACST has used Apple laptops for its technology needs, but for next year, students who wish to bring a Chromebook or PC may do so, providing they meet the school specifications. Once a student has been admitted to ACST, parents will be provided with laptop specifications and procedures for school use.
