Model United Nations (MUN)

Message from MUN President
Dear Delegates and Faculties,
It is to my utmost pleasure to welcome you to the 2nd edition of the ACST MUN conference! My name is Mariem Naouar. I'm a senior at ACST, and I am looking forward to serving as the Secretary General of ACST MUN 2025.
MUN has been a voice, a voice to call out global issues, a voice to represent those who are censored, a voice to access our potential. The Model United Nations isn’t just a simulation, it is an eye-opener to the complexity behind the hard work of diplomats trying to make the world a better place. It allows us to embody the people in need, the compassion it takes to face these issues, and the patience required to come together for a better solution to sustainable peace.
ACST’s MUN allows delegates to embody these opportunities and qualities, while fostering academic excellence and community involvement. We give the keys to allow delegates to engage in these actions in the most suited environment. As the American school in Tunisia, we recognized the importance of having an accessible MUN conference, catered to different tastes and linguistic preferences, which is why we chose to divide this MUN conference into French and English. Our councils will range from the General Assembly to the Haut Commissariat des Nations Unies pour les Réfugiés, allowing Delegates a range of possibilities to participate in.
As much as we are thrilled about our committee sessions and engagement, we cannot stress enough the importance of one of the most crucial aspects of MUN: community involvement. MUN not only allows us to debate on global issues, but also gives us the opportunity to create bonds and connections with students from around Tunis. Being surrounded by academic weapons and pro-arguers comes with its perks! You surround yourself with people who academically stimulate you, make you think a little deeper, and challenge your knowledge. We all come to MUN conferences because of this shared value of global engagement. In a way, we meet our people, our shared thoughts in other humans, which is why we love and adore MUN so much.
We truly hope to see you at our conference this year, as it will be an incredible opportunity to combine all of our MUN traditions that make experiences like these so memorable.
Message from MUN Advisor
As the advisor of our school’s Model United Nations (MUN) program for the past four years, I am excited to welcome both new and returning students to another year of debate and diplomacy. MUN provides a unique opportunity for students to step into the shoes of global leaders, engage with pressing international issues, and develop essential skills in research, negotiation, and public speaking. It is not only an academic exercise but also a chance for students to build confidence, broaden their perspectives, and learn the importance of collaboration and compromise in solving global challenges. Over the past four years, we have competed internationally in Rome, Prague, Cairo, and Dubai, and this fall we will be going to compete in Barcelona.
Our MUN team is a place where students from all backgrounds come together to share ideas and challenge themselves in a supportive, dynamic environment. Whether preparing for conferences, drafting resolutions, or practicing speeches, participants are encouraged to think critically, work creatively, and represent their assigned countries with integrity and enthusiasm. I am proud to guide this journey and look forward to seeing our students grow into thoughtful global citizens who are prepared to make a positive impact on the world.
