The IB Diploma Program
Challenging, Holistic, International Education
The curriculum at ACST for 11th and 12th graders is based on the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (DP) which is respected worldwide for its academic challenge, emphasis on personal development, and preparation for university-level study. Internationally-recognized course outcomes require students to not only know the what, but also to explore the why and how of their subject, which strengthens analytical thinking, deepens understanding, and encourages meaningful connections across disciplines.
Teaching and learning in the DP focuses on integrating content-specific knowledge and skills alongside life skills, such as collaboration, communication, and flexible thinking, that students need for navigating ever-changing academic, professional, and personal landscapes.
At ACST, the IBDP’s international outlook is enriched by our globally diverse community. Course content and classroom discussions explore a wide range of cultures and histories, helping students develop empathy and a deeper understanding of different perspectives. In doing so, they open doors to new ideas, hearts to others' experiences, and minds to the richness of the global community.
The Diploma Core
One of the unique and enduring features of the Diploma Programme is a commitment to its three “Core” elements. Successful completion demonstrates that a student is well-rounded and well-prepared for the demands of higher education.
DP Course Offerings
The IBDP requires DP Candidates to study six subject groups, ensuring a well-rounded and interdisciplinary education. These groups include Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and The Arts. Courses are two years long and culminate in externally-assessed exams.
