Counseling

ACST Counseling Department Mission Statement

The ACST Counseling Department supports all students in recognizing their intrinsic value and in realizing that their social and emotional well-being is essential to academic and personal success. Our programs and services promote autonomy and a sense of personal responsibility in an increasingly complex global society.

ACST Counseling Department Beliefs

As ACST School Counselors we believe that:

All students can be successful.
All students should be supported in a respectful and nurturing manner.
All members of the school community (students, parents and staff) are vital to student success.
We should meet the developmental and diverse needs of all students.
We should prepare students for challenges and transitions at all stages of their lives.

Ethical Guidelines

Counselors will adhere to confidentiality and ethical guidelines as outlined in the International School Counselors Association (ISCA) Model of School Counseling Program. Counselors are encouraged to be members of ISCA and to attend yearly conferences as a department. As this is a school-wide initiative this is funded by ACST General Fund.
