Last week, ACST hosted two consultants on campus as a step toward fulfilling our promise of standards-based teaching and learning in all classrooms. Stevi Quate, a secondary literacy expert and author of the books The Just-Right Challenge and Clockwatchers, launched our all-faculty professional learning day with a compelling argument for building thought-filled classrooms through the workshop approach. Chris Charnitski, a Next Generation Science specialist, used a hands-on experience to enhance K12 teachers’ understanding of the shifts required by the Next Generation Science Standards. All teachers and teaching assistants were engaged in relevant learning experiences during our Professional Learning Day, thanks to our K12 Student Support Team, secondary teacher leaders, and our consultants on campus.

IB CAS trip to Friguia Park

On Saturday, October 28th, a group of Junior IB CAS students went to Friguia Park with disabled association students of La Marsa, AGIM.

At school, ACST students prepared sandwiches and lunch bags for them. Although the day was hot, ACST students managed to stay engaged and helped take care of the disabled throughout the day. They showed a high spirit of empathy, compassion and problem-solving. Big shouts out to Amira, Yu, Khadija D, Badyss, Seif, Sophie, Anais, Narimen and Sidona.
